How to take Screenshot from Computer

Have you seen the images or screenshot I have been posting on my blog, these all screenshot are taken through keyboard.

I was really surprise when I came to know my friends don’t know how to take screenshot from their computer. Also I was asked by one of the fellow blogger few days back, I was shocked when she asked that question, is she kidding me. No man, she was serious.

So I decided to post the method of taking screenshot of anything that is in your computer through keyboard.

How to take screenshot from computer?

First of all search this “Print Screen/SysRq” button on your keyboard.

  1. To capture the whole screen, just hit the Print Screen (Prt Scr) button on your keyboard.
  2. Then, open your paint brush or wordPad (paint is better, you can also do some editing there) and create a new file, and select Paste from the Edit menu or press Ctrl + V.

This should paste a screenshot of your computer screen into the document you’re working on. You can also paste the screenshot into a word processing like MS word.

Since most of the time you only want a specific part of the screenshot, you can crop out anything you don’t need. You can do this by using the selection tool in the Paint brush. After that you can use it on your Web site or elsewhere, but be sure to save the screenshot in GIF or PNG format to make the size smaller.

Remember: - By default the screenshot are saved in .bmp (aka bitmap), which is very big in size and “unfriendly” to the website.

Note: -

  1. A key combination of Alt + Print Screen will take a screenshot of only the current window.
  2. Many laptops, to conserve keyboard space, have mapped the “PrtSc” key as a primary or secondary function on a shared key. To take a screenshot with “PrtSc” mapped to a key as a secondary function, you will need to locate your notebook’s function key (usually labeled “Fn” and located along the bottom row) and engage it before touching “PrtSc.”

Play around sometime and soon you’ll be able to take good screenshots.

Hi mymytri, glad to know that it helped you and to see you again here. Yeah actually many free softwares are there which makes the work more easier but still capturing screenshot from your own computer is best without using 3rd party software.
