How to Rename and Remove Recycle Bin from Desktop
This is the old trick through which you can change the name of Recycle Bin to your choice like “My Dustbin”, “My Aching Stomach” etc and yeah you can also delete it from desktop although its not necessary.
The simple steps taken to Rename the Recycle Bin are:-
- Goto Start->Run and type in Regedit and press enter.
- Goto HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
- Open the ShellFolder folder.
Another Procedure to Rename the Recycle Bin
- Goto Start->Run and type in Regedit and press enter.
- Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/ShellNoRoam/ MUICache
- In the right hand pane, double click the @C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll,-8964
- Change the value to whatever you want.
- Close Ok and close the regedit.
- Refresh your desktop and see the changes on the name of Recycle Bin you wanted.
Now the simple steps taken to Remove the Recycle Bin from desktop are:-
- Goto Start->Run and type in Gpedit.msc and press enter.
- Navagate to USER CONFIGURATION >ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES >Click on DESKTOP.
- On the right hand pane find ” Remove Recycle Bin icon on the desktop ” , double left click on it to ENABLE it.
Another procedure to remove the Recycle Bin.
- Goto Start->Run and type in Regedit and press enter.
- Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel.
- In the right hand pane, right click select New-> Binary Value and name it {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}.
- Refresh the desktop and see the Recycle Bin disappear.
- Note:- To bring back the Recycle Bin to desktop, delete the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}.
Note:- Sometimes it may take time to take effect. So keep refreshing till you see the changes.
