Hide Drive Partition without tweaks in Registry

Again the trick of hiding drive but this time with another twist, i.e., without tweaking in the registry. The safest trick, so don’t be afraid to try this trick.

Here is the cool technique which hides entire hard disk drive partitions by simple procedure without using regedit.

  1. Go to the Start->Run and type in diskpart.
  2. A DOS window will appear with following description, DISKPART>
  3. Now type list Volume. It will show all the volume number corresponding to the drive letter number. Please this may varies depending on your system configuration. In my system volume 5 appears to be drive E. So note the volume no. carefully and proceed to step 4.
  4. Suppose you want to hide drive E then type Select volume 5. A message will now appear in the window saying “Volume 5 is the selected volume
  5. Now type remove letter E. Diskpart will remove the letter E. Your drive now is hidden, don’t worry its not been deleted of formatted, It just hide it. This drive will not visible to guest user and other administrator. If it don’t work, reboot and see the result. So if you want to see your drive again just follow the step 6.
  6. To access the content of the hidden drive, repeat the process, but in step 5, replace remove to assign, i.e., assign letter E.

Note:- I have tested this tricks in the Windows XP only. If you are using any other OS, then you can try and share with us. Since it is doesn’t involve any tweaks in Registry. So no harm in doing this.
