Search Status is a Firefox’s toolbar extension to check your page rank and alexa rank. Currently I am using search status plugin/toolbar and it is working very well.

First of all if you have no idea about what is page rank and alexa rank then read the overview of the terms.

What is Page Rank?

Page Rank is a numerical value from 1-10 which represents the popularity of the website i.e., it represents how important the page is on the web. The more the number, the higher is the page rank.

Page Rank is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determine a page’s ranking in the search results. It isn’t the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.

What is Alexa Rank?

Alexa is a very powerful tool used to measure website traffic i.e., the number of visitors you get in your website in the internet through their increasing popular toolbar plugin.

Note: - The lower the alexa ranking the more heavily visited the site is.

Ok that’s it. Now you know what is page rank and alexa rank.

So search status with its toolbar allows you to see how any and every website in the world is performing. For every site you visit using, Search Status lets you view its Google page rank, alexa rank, alexa incoming links, compete ranking and backward linking from Google, Yahoo and MSN.

The best part of the search status is that it appears at the bottom of the browser on the status bar. If you choose to view backward links for a particular page, they open in new tabs in the same browser window. It has many more features.
